Avadre M.A. Basic School in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region has recorded a 100 percent pass rate in the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), bringing pride to the school, parents, teachers, students, and residents of the community.
The result means that all candidates presented by the school successfully met the requirements of the 2026 BECE, marking a significant academic milestone for the school.
Speaking to Fafaa 100.3 FM, the Headmaster of Avadre M.A. Basic School and Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Prosper Agbeli, confirmed the achievement and described it as a major success for the school and the Avadre community.
According to Hon. Agbeli, the achievement is particularly significant because it is only the second time the school has presented candidates for the BECE.
He explained that reaching the 100 percent pass rate was not an easy task, as the school faced several challenges during the preparation period. However, he said the determination of the teachers and students, coupled with teamwork and what he described as the grace of God, contributed to the successful outcome.
Hon. Agbeli commended the teaching staff for their dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to preparing the candidates despite the challenges confronting the school.
He also praised the students for taking their studies seriously and demonstrating determination throughout their preparation for the examination.
The Headmaster disclosed that the school currently faces a shortage of teaching staff, with the number of teachers below the required strength. Despite the challenge, he said the available teachers have continued to work hard to provide quality education to the students.
He said the achievement demonstrates what can be accomplished when teachers remain committed and students are determined to succeed, even in the face of limited resources.
Hon. Agbeli noted that the school’s performance is particularly encouraging because Avadre M.A. Basic School is located in a rural community. He said the achievement challenges the perception that students in rural areas cannot compete academically with their counterparts in urban communities.
According to him, the result demonstrates that students in rural communities can excel when they receive the necessary guidance, support, and encouragement.
He therefore appealed to parents and guardians to take an active role in their children’s education, stressing that academic success requires cooperation between parents, teachers, school authorities, students, and the wider community.
Hon. Agbeli also encouraged students currently in the school to learn from the achievement of their colleagues and work hard to maintain and improve the academic standard established.
The Assembly Member expressed appreciation to Fafaa 100.3 FM for its continued interest in the development of Avadre. He commended the station for providing a platform through which the community’s concerns, achievements, and development needs are brought to public attention.
The impressive BECE performance has generated excitement among residents, with the achievement expected to motivate current students and encourage the community to strengthen its support for education.
The school authorities are also expected to build on the success while continuing to advocate for additional teaching staff and other resources needed to improve teaching and learning.
