The Duamenefa Foundation has honoured Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie, popularly known as Prof. Double Double, on the occasion of his 50th birthday, in recognition of his contributions to education, technological advancement, and community development in the Volta Region and Ghana as a whole.

The honour marks a significant milestone in the life of Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie, celebrating not only his 50 years of life but also his contributions towards improving access to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities, particularly in the Ketu North Municipality and its surrounding communities.

Presenting the honour on behalf of the Duamenefa Foundation, the Foundation’s Executive President, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, described Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie as a great personality and a valuable asset to Ghana, particularly the Volta Region.

According to Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, the decision to honour Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie was influenced by the visible impact of his work and his commitment to supporting educational development through the provision of ICT infrastructure.

The Executive President emphasised that individuals who dedicate their resources, time, and efforts to improving the lives of others deserve recognition and encouragement. He noted that Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie’s initiatives demonstrate a commitment to addressing some of the challenges facing students and young people, particularly in accessing technological resources that are increasingly essential in modern education.

Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe specifically highlighted the ICT Centre built by Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie at Agbozume, describing it as evidence of his commitment to promoting digital education and technological development.

He also acknowledged the ongoing construction of another ICT Centre in the Ketu North Municipality, noting that the initiative has the potential to expand access to digital learning opportunities for students and other beneficiaries in the area.

The establishment of ICT Centres is particularly important in today’s technology-driven world, where computer literacy and digital skills have become essential requirements for education, employment, entrepreneurship, and professional development. Such facilities can provide students with opportunities to develop computer skills, conduct research, improve their academic performance, and acquire the knowledge needed to participate effectively in the digital economy.

According to the Executive President, these contributions were among the reasons the Duamenefa Foundation considered Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie worthy of recognition on his 50th birthday.

He explained that the Foundation’s gesture was intended to acknowledge the importance of his work and encourage the continuation of initiatives that contribute to the development of communities in the Volta Region and beyond.

Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe further recalled that Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie had promised to construct an ICT Centre in Ketu North, a commitment he made to the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Edem Agbana.

The commitment, according to the Executive President, underscores the importance of individuals taking practical steps to support community development and complement efforts aimed at improving educational infrastructure.

The proposed ICT Centre is expected to contribute to expanding access to technology and digital learning opportunities in the municipality. Increased access to such facilities can help equip young people with relevant digital skills, preparing them for further education and the changing demands of the employment market.

The recognition also highlights the importance of collaboration among individuals, community organisations, political representatives, and other stakeholders in addressing developmental needs. When individuals invest in projects that improve access to education and technology, the benefits can extend beyond immediate beneficiaries to families and communities at large.

The Duamenefa Foundation’s decision to honour Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie therefore represents more than a celebration of his 50th birthday. It also serves as an acknowledgement of the importance of initiatives that seek to create opportunities for young people and promote technological advancement.

Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe’s description of Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie as a great personality and an asset to Ghana, particularly the Volta Region, reflects the Foundation’s appreciation of his reported contributions to ICT development.

The gesture further draws attention to the need to recognise individuals whose work supports community progress and encourages others to contribute their knowledge, resources, and expertise towards improving the lives of people in their communities.

As Ghana continues to embrace digital transformation, investments in ICT infrastructure remain important in ensuring that young people, particularly those in underserved communities, have opportunities to acquire the digital competencies required in the modern world.

The ICT Centre at Agbozume and the ongoing project in Ketu North represent important developments in this regard, demonstrating the potential value of initiatives aimed at improving access to technological resources.

As Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie celebrates his golden jubilee, the honour bestowed upon him by the Duamenefa Foundation serves as a tribute to his contributions and an encouragement for continued efforts towards educational advancement and community development.

The occasion also provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of using personal achievements and resources to support initiatives that benefit society and create opportunities for future generations.

The Duamenefa Foundation, through its Executive President, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, has expressed its appreciation for Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie’s contributions and the significance of his ICT-related initiatives to the Volta Region and Ghana as a whole.
