The Winners Cooperative Credit Union (WINCCU) has held its 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the Akatsi South Municipality, highlighting significant financial growth, increased membership, and a renewed commitment to transparency, member welfare, and financial inclusion.
The meeting brought together more than 5,000 members and served as a platform for management to present the Credit Union’s performance for the 2025/2026 financial year while outlining strategic plans for sustained growth.
Addressing members, Board Chairman Mr. S.K. Avevor commended them for their loyalty and continued confidence in the Credit Union. He noted that WINCCU remains committed to operating in accordance with the regulations of the Government of Ghana and the Bank of Ghana, a development he said has strengthened the institution’s credibility and positioned it for greater growth.
According to Mr. Avevor, the Credit Union continues to deepen its institutional foundations through sound governance, transparency, and improved financial performance.
Presenting the annual report, management announced a number of positive financial indicators for the year under review. Membership increased from 2,644 to 3,636, representing a 37.5 percent growth and a net gain of 992 members.
Total savings also recorded substantial growth, rising from GHS 7,242,556 to GHS 9,629,333.50. Share capital increased from GHS 673,216 to GHS 1,016,632, representing a 51 percent increase.
Interest earned on loans rose significantly during the period, while total income increased from GHS 1,255,913.66 to GHS 2,052,239, reflecting strong operational performance and continued growth.
Mr. Avevor expressed appreciation to the Board of Directors, Board of Governors, Education Committee, Supervisory Committee, and Loans Committee for their dedication and strategic leadership, which he credited for the Credit Union’s achievements.
He also commended the institution’s workforce of 120 employees, comprising 83 women and 37 men, for their professionalism and commitment to delivering quality services to members.
As part of the AGM celebrations, members who participated in the WINCCU Share Promotion received various prizes, including tabletop refrigerators, standing fans, rechargeable lamps, ceiling fans, cooking cylinders with burners, flat-screen televisions, and other household appliances.
Beyond the annual meeting, WINCCU partnered with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and the Ghana Health Service to organise a free community health outreach at the Akatsi Market Square. The exercise offered free health screening services as well as NHIS registration and renewal for members of the public.
The outreach programme was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive for Akatsi South, Hon. Dagba, alongside traditional leaders, religious leaders, market women and men, and other stakeholders.
The meeting concluded with members reaffirming their commitment to supporting the continued growth and development of the Credit Union.
