Voters exhibition records low turnout

The first day of the Electoral Commission’s (EC) nationwide voter exhibition exercise ahead of the December 7 elections has recorded low turnout at some centres in the Volta region.

The exercise scheduled to commence from 20th to 27th August, 2024 is to correct names and details of the electorates, ensure the removal of names of deceased persons and minors among others and to ensure credible election on the 7th day of December, 2024

During the tour of various registration centers by Fafaa fm’s community reporters, this all important event recorded very low patronage at the exhibition centers.

In the Ketu South Constituency at the Kpordoave Basic school centre, only 94 (men=52, female 42) out of 548 participated in the exercise

Mr. Joseph Amegayie the EC official at the centre said he is hopeful that in the coming days, the turnout will improve

In another development, Fafaa Fm reporters engaged members of the various communities, and most of them claimed they are not aware of the exercise.

This confirms Mr Barnabas Seidu Abass’s the host of Fafaa FM’s Agoo morning show interrogation with Mr. Promise Agbemehia, the district director of Electoral Commission, Ketu North who complained that the exercise see low publicity.

More worrisome is the fact that, no security or party official were present at the two centres visited

It behoves on the electoral commission of Ghana to do the needful through public education and stakeholders engagement, if possible, extend the exercise beyond the proposed one week schedule

Watch out for further development………….
