In Adzoatsi of the Ketu North Municipality, a suspected thief, Matthew Dogbatsey, alias Matthee, has been apprehended for allegedly stealing a tricycle motor.
According to Mr. Daniel Nutekpor, the owner of the stolen vehicle, the theft was discovered by Mr. Nutekpor yesterday morning. “I had parked my new tricycle motor, without a number plate, in my house, but it was nowhere to be found this morning,” Mr. Nutekpor told Gabriel Dogbey of Fafaa Radio 100.3 FM.
With the assistance of relatives and local youths, Mr. Nutekpor launched a search operation, tracing the tricycle’s footsteps from Adzoatsi to Dzodze Kave. At around 5:00 am, the suspect, Matthee, was spotted attempting to bypass them. Upon confrontation, Matthee fled, but was eventually apprehended by members of the search party.
During an interrogation, Matthee confessed to the crime and implicated an accomplice, Tsakpey. He led them to a house where the stolen tricycle was allegedly hidden, but the alleged accomplices and the tricycle had fled the scene.
Matthee has been handed over to the police at Ehi for further investigation, and efforts are underway to recover the stolen tricycle motor.
