KETU NORTH: Fulani Herdsmen on the rampage

Some parts of Dzodze, Ketu North Municipal Capital is seriously suffering from the devastating effect of Fulani herdsmen and their cattle.

This was contained in a report by Rev. Mrs. Theresa Govina Seckey, the community reporter of Fafaa 100.3 Fm’s Duamenefa Foundation, Non Governmental Organization for Social Intervention.

According to Madam Govina, an area, known as Deveme or Shamma situated in the Ablorme Electoral Area, has seen the influx of large numbers of cattle.

The residents of the community in an interview with the community reporter laments that the cattle destroyed their crops, such as, maize cassava sugarcane and others. According to the farmers, these animals grazed their farm produce to the ground leaving them in a state of psychological trauma. Worst of all, they claim these Fulani herdsmen pretends not to understand their medium of communication.

When the newly elected Assemblyman, Hon. Adovor Sampson Kwesi, was interviewed, he claimed he has witnessed the sad devastating event which has affected members of his community. Mr. Adovor however pledged to collaborate with the Fafaa 100.3Fm’s Duamenefa Social Intervention Movement to locate all relevant stakeholders to collectively fight this social menace in the interest of the people of Ketu North.

The Fafaa 100.3 Fm’s Duamenefa Social Intervention NGO, is a movement of over 37,727 registered and certified volunteers (still counting) These volunteers are scattered across the various communities of the Volta Region and beyond. Their primary objective, among others, is to collaborate with lawful agencies to save the vulnerable from human right abuses.
