GIS vows to defend property after suspicious encroachment attempt

The Ghana International School (GIS) has pledged to safeguard its property against any form of encroachment.

This commitment follows an incident where an unidentified individual attempted to take possession of the school’s land under suspicious circumstances.

Frank Amponsah Mensah, the Principal and Head of GIS, told Citi News on Thursday, “We don’t know whether he is claiming that the property is for him personally or he is fighting for somebody, but if you acquire property, do you take possession of your property at 2 am? 2 am everybody is supposed to be asleep unless you are a security man guarding your post or you have evil intentions.”

“But you can’t come to somebody’s house, open his gates, and tell your people to put sand onto his property and that if he has a problem he should go to the police station.”

Mensah emphasized that the school administration will take all necessary measures to protect its property.

In response to the allegations, the Office of the President has denied any involvement in the land dispute with GIS.

On September 5, 2024, the Office issued a statement asserting that it has no interest in the disputed land and has not instructed any officer or agent to interfere in matters related to the property within the Cantonments area.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued on Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Office of the President clarified that it holds no interest in the land in question and has not directed any officer or agent to interfere in matters concerning the land located within the Cantonments area.
