Dzodze Council Hall area of the Municipality of the Ketu North was engulfed in chaos during a proposed meeting of chiefs of the traditional area, convened by the newly installed Paramount Chief, Togbiga Dzoku V.
In the letter of invitation sighted by Fafaa FM, Togbiga Dzoku V convened the meeting with an intention to brief the chiefs of Dzodze traditional area on his endorsement by the National House of Chiefs and his swearing into the Regional House of Chiefs as the Paramount Chief of Dzodze.
According to an eye witnesses reporter from Fafaa 100.3 FM, a private commercial radio station in the Municipality, the youths who were clad mostly in red attire with red headgear, were heard saying thus, “Why would you be installed as our Paramount Chief when we have not yet buried the late Togbi Dzoku IV past 13 years ago.”
Others were heard saying, “How can Adagbledu, the same area where the Paramount Chief emerged, be fighting each other? This is very sad ooo.” Some were heard saying, “Why won’t they reconcile their internal crises? Why are they throwing the peaceful community into a state of chaos? Are they suffering from “Vekli” juju attack??” Vekli juju is a type of traditional charm that could cause division in families when invoked against a particular family.
They threw stones in an attempt to damage the car of the paramount chief and also to attack him in person. It took the timely intervention of a team of police officers from the Dzodze Divisional Police Command to avert the chaotic situation. In the process two police officers sustained a injuries when stones were thrown at the Paramount chief it rather turned to hit the police.
The proposed meeting was however disrupted by the rampaging youths. One of them was arrested by the police for possessing a pistol.
