A severe power outage has plagued Adrume – Avorkpokorpe in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region, following the collapse of an electricity pole that supplies the community.
The incident occurred during a communal labour exercise led by Hon. Hope Ɖetikey, the Assemblyman of Adrume electoral area, together with his unit committee members. The team desires to clear trees obstructing electricity lines.
According to Mr. Okro Avorkpo, a resident, the exercise took a dangerous turn when a falling tree snapped the electricity line and the pole, leaving the community without power.
The community leaders took pain to visit the ECG office at Denu, where a formal complaint and plea for restoration of the light was made. The response from the ECG officials indicates that the office lacks poles for restoration of light to the community. The undeterred residents purchased a replacement pole for the purpose, but the ECG authorities could not act to restore light to the community for the past two months.
Mr. Avorkpo further states that repeated calls on the electricity company could not yield the desired results. The implications have dire consequences on economic activities affecting livelihood and security. Members of the community, therefore, call on Fafaa FM to intervene by holding the duty bearers accountable to the people of Adrume – Avorkpokorpe.
Watch out for further development………
