Women’s group donate to HO NICU

THE Volta Regional Women’s Committee of the Health Services Workers Union (HSWU) has donated 40 pieces of cot sheets and 40 gallons of liquid soap to the Neonatal and Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Ho Teaching Hospital.

A member of National Executive Committee of HSWU, Sister Uel Rachael Deletsu, who presented the items on behalf of the Volta and Oti Regional council of the union, said it was part of their activities to mark this year’s International Women’s Day .

She said the gesture was to show their love to mothers and the children admitted to the NICU.

She explained that the gesture would be sustained since members of the committee were concerned about the welfare of children.
The acting nursing officer in-charge of the unit, Madam Rita Kafui Azamelah, expressed gratitude for the gesture and appealed to corporate bodies and public-spirited individuals to support the unit with incubators and more detergents.

The Volta Regional Chairman of HWSU, Mr Emmanuel Bugno Gator, said the value of women in the society was unquantifiable and their role in national development was sterling.

“So, it is only proper for nations to honour women for valiant roles, at all times,” he added.
