The Duamenefa Foundation, through its investigation and intervention modules has saved two additional lives from the claws and clutches of hitherto antagonistic diabolical and spiritual conflicts, bringing its total number of documented lives saved to 728 in a space of 16 years.
The Foundation said the latest successes demonstrate its continued commitment to promoting justice, protecting vulnerable individuals, and facilitating the peaceful resolution of disputes through collaboration with traditional authorities and state institutions.
One of the recent petitions involved the Nutakor family of Nogokpo, where a prolonged diabolical conflict reportedly delayed the burial of a deceased family member and raised concerns about the possible submission of a young virgin girl into servitude at the Tormife Shrine.
According to information gathered during the intervention, the dispute originated from a conflict between two family members. Following the death of one of the parties involved, allegations emerged linking the death to a deity believed to have been invoked during the disagreement.
The situation became more complicated when claims surfaced that the family could not retrieve the deceased’s body from the mortuary for burial unless a virgin girl was presented into servitude as part of the settlement process.
Faced with the impasse, the family petitioned the Duamenefa Foundation for assistance.
The Foundation subsequently initiated investigations in collaboration with key institutions, including the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), the Centre for National Culture, the Ghana Police Service, and traditional authorities.
According to the Foundation, the investigations established that the Tormife deity had not demanded the submission of any virgin girl into servitude. The findings reportedly indicated that the family had been misled by claims made during a divination process.
The intervention ultimately led to the resolution of the dispute, enabling the family to retrieve the body from the mortuary and proceed with burial arrangements. The Foundation noted that the outcome also helped avert a situation that could have negatively affected the rights and welfare of a young virgin girl.
In a separate intervention at Vui, in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, the Foundation intervened in a matter involving Mr. Tsatey Doku, whose prolonged illness had been caused through spiritual attack, allegedly orchestrated by Mr. Seth Lumor
Reports indicated that the issue had initially been brought before traditional authorities, who summoned Mr. Lumor. However, Mr. Lumor reportedly failed to comply with the verdict of the traditional arbitration. Instead, he disappeared and relocated to Fiaxor and later moved again to Alakple community, disregarding the need to exorcise his gods in other to save the bedridden victim
The Doku family subsequently sought assistance through petition to the Duamenefa Foundation.
Following investigations, the Foundation was able to trace and locate Mr Seth Lumor from his hideout, facilitate his return to the traditional authorities, where he later complied with the directives previously issued by the chiefs, allowing the matter to proceed toward resolution.
Commenting on the two petitions, the Executive President of the Foundation, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, emphasized that all interventions undertaken by the organization are guided by principles collaborative and intervention journalism in pursuit of justice, truth, human rights, and peaceful coexistence.
He noted that the Foundation remains committed to working closely with relevant institutions and traditional authorities to ensure that disputes are handled lawfully, fairly, and responsibly.
Mr. Evortepe also stressed the importance of public education in preventing misunderstandings arising from misinformation, fear, and misinterpretation of traditional beliefs and practices. He encouraged community members to seek guidance from recognized authorities before acting on claims that could negatively affect others.
The Foundation further reiterated its opposition to harmful practices that undermine human dignity and violate the rights of vulnerable individuals, emphasizing that such actions are inconsistent with Ghana’s laws and values.
Community leaders and stakeholders who participated in the interventions expressed appreciation to the Duamenefa Foundation for its prompt response and coordination. They noted that the Foundation’s involvement helped ease tensions, restore calm, and facilitate positive outcomes in both cases.
Mr. Evortepe also extended gratitude to CHRAJ, the NCCE, the Ghana Police Service, the Centre for National Culture, traditional rulers, and all stakeholders whose collaboration contributed to the successful resolution of the matters.
The Foundation has appealed to the public to report disputes and community concerns promptly to appropriate authorities, stressing that early intervention remains one of the most effective ways of preventing conflicts from escalating.
With the addition of these two cases, the Duamenefa Foundation says it has now recorded 728 lives saved through its investigation and intervention successes, reinforcing its role as a key advocate for peace, justice, and community harmony.
