The Duamenefa Community Reporters are set to undergo a Training of Trainers (ToT) programme ahead of the planned visit to Ghana by representatives of NGOs from Pennsylvania, USA, in partnership with the Duamenefa Foundation.
The training forms part of preparations to equip the community reporters with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively carry out their roles and contribute to the foundation’s community-focused activities.
Mr. Felix Abusah, a board member of the Duamenefa Foundation and Country Director for Pennsylvania, USA, disclosed this on the airwaves of Fafaa 100.3 FM during the Duamenefa Social Intervention Programme, in an interaction with the Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe.
According to Mr. Abusah, the planned visit is a significant one and will involve several initiatives that require the active participation of people on the ground to ensure that the various plans are successfully implemented.
He explained that the Duamenefa Community Reporters have a major role to play in the activities surrounding the visit, making the Training of Trainers programme an important part of the preparations.
He said the training would equip the reporters with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to perform their responsibilities effectively.
Mr. Abusah noted that the community reporters serve as an important link between the foundation and the communities in which it operates. Through their activities, they can help communicate information, document community interventions and create awareness about programmes and opportunities available to the people.
He therefore urged the reporters to take the training seriously and see it as an opportunity to improve their reporting and community engagement skills. He said their preparedness and commitment would contribute to the smooth implementation of the various initiatives planned for the visit.
Mr. Abusah further disclosed that the leaders of the NGOs from Pennsylvania have plans to establish an office in Dzodze or another suitable location within the Volta Region to aid the implementation of its proposed project
He said the proposed office would provide a local presence for the organizations and could serve as a platform for coordinating activities, programmes and future initiatives in the region.
According to him, the initiative is not only about preparing for the immediate visit but also about building a sustainable relationship that could bring further opportunities and interventions to the region.
Mr. Abusah also stated that, God willing, the visit by the Greatness Initiative NGO representatives from Pennsylvania is expected to take place in February 2027.
He said the anticipated visit would provide an opportunity for the organizations to engage directly with the Duamenefa Foundation, community reporters and other stakeholders on the various initiatives being planned.
He further highlighted the potential opportunities that could emerge from the initiative, stating that after successfully undergoing the training, opportunities could open up for some of the community reporters, including the possibility of travelling abroad, particularly to Pennsylvania, USA, for relevant programmes, engagements or further exposure.
He explained that such opportunities could enable the reporters to broaden their experience, interact with people from different backgrounds and gain exposure that could be useful in their community work.
Mr. Abusah also stressed the importance of discipline, teamwork, commitment and a willingness to learn, saying these qualities would be necessary for the reporters to make meaningful use of the opportunities that may come their way.
The planned visit by the Pennsylvania-based NGO representatives is expected to strengthen the relationship and partnership between the organizations and the Duamenefa Foundation. The collaboration is also expected to provide a platform for the discussion and implementation of initiatives aimed at supporting communities and creating opportunities for individuals.
The Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, also emphasized the importance of collective effort and partnership in achieving the foundation’s objectives. He stressed the need for members, board members, community reporters and other collaborators to work together and remain committed to initiatives aimed at making a positive difference in the lives of people.
The forthcoming Training of Trainers programme is therefore expected to serve both as preparation for the Pennsylvania NGO delegation’s visit and as a capacity-building opportunity for the Duamenefa Community Reporters.
The proposed establishment of an office in Dzodze or another part of the Volta Region would further provide a local point of engagement for the planned activities and could strengthen the connection between the NGOs, the Duamenefa Foundation and communities in the region.
