CHRAJ Commends Duamenefa Foundation for Timely Intervention in Inheritance Dispute

The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has commended the Duamenefa Foundation for what it described as a timely and impactful intervention in addressing inheritance and property disputes affecting vulnerable individuals within communities.

The commendation was made by officials of CHRAJ, led by Quarcoo Noah Klenam, during an interaction with Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe on the airwaves of Fafaa 100.3 FM.

The discussion focused on property and inheritance disputes, particularly a petition received by the Duamenefa Foundation from residents of Dzodze-Kuli.

Speaking during the programme, Mr. Klenam educated listeners on issues relating to inheritance and property ownership and stressed the importance of lawful procedures in resolving such disputes.

According to him, many families continue to experience conflicts over inherited properties due to inadequate knowledge of the law and the absence of proper documentation.

He noted that the intervention by the Duamenefa Foundation in the Dzodze-Kuli matter was timely and deserving of commendation, adding that the Foundation continues to play a significant role in supporting ordinary citizens to seek justice and peaceful settlement of disputes.

Mr. Klenam stated that the Foundation’s commitment to addressing social challenges and assisting vulnerable individuals reflects its dedication to community development and social advocacy.

He therefore encouraged the organization to remain steadfast in serving the interests of the people and promoting peaceful conflict resolution within communities.

The CHRAJ official further advised the public to adopt lawful and peaceful approaches when handling inheritance and property disputes and urged individuals to seek assistance from the appropriate institutions whenever necessary.

Mr. Klenam also expressed concern over the growing number of inheritance-related conflicts in many communities, explaining that such disputes often create divisions among family members and sometimes lead to prolonged legal battles.

He emphasized the need for continuous public education on wills, estate management, and customary inheritance laws in order to reduce tensions and misunderstandings among families.

He further called on traditional leaders, opinion leaders, and community stakeholders to collaborate with institutions such as Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice and civil society organizations to strengthen awareness and mediation efforts before disputes escalate.

According to him, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms remain one of the most effective ways of maintaining peace and unity within communities.

Mr. Klenam also acknowledged the role played by Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe in promoting public awareness on important social and legal issues affecting citizens.

He stated that Mr. Evortepe consistently engages relevant state institutions and experts to educate the public on matters of concern through programmes aired on Fafaa 100.3 FM.

According to him, the opportunity given to institutions such as CHRAJ to educate the public through the platform of Fafaa 100.3 FM is highly commendable and contributes significantly to public awareness and community development.

He noted that such media engagements help citizens better understand their rights, responsibilities, and the proper channels for resolving disputes peacefully.

Residents who followed the discussion on the radio station also praised the initiative, describing it as timely, educational, and beneficial to the community.

Many listeners commended both CHRAJ and the Duamenefa Foundation for shedding light on legal and social issues affecting families and vulnerable individuals.
