A heavy rainstorm has left residents of Weta Atsakorpe in the Ketu North Municipality without electricity after strong winds uprooted a mango tree, causing serious damage to a low-tension power pole.
The fallen tree brought down electricity cables and reportedly affected the ECG transformer, resulting in a complete blackout across the community. Residents say they have been without power since the incident, forcing them to spend several nights in total darkness.
Despite efforts by the Assembly Member, Hon. Lormawu, the situation remains unresolved. Community members are urgently appealing to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to quickly repair the damaged infrastructure. They also fear the prolonged outage could attract cable thieves if action is not taken immediately.
