The Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, also known as Torgbui Duamenefa I, has cautioned the public against allowing self-styled pocket lawyers or any individuals to mislead them on matters that are under investigation or before traditional authorities. He warned that such interference could worsen their cases and negatively affect the outcome of proceedings.
Mr. Evortepe made this statement on the airwaves of Fafaa 100.3 FM during the Duamenefa Social Intervention Programme.
Mr. Evortepe was invited to address listeners on what is currently unfolding at Aflao at the palace of Torgbui Ahorsu, where an arbitration process was initiated between Pastor Ekuago Karl and Madam Amegashitsi Bertha, the complainant.
According to details shared during the programme, Madam Amegashitsi Bertha alleged that Pastor Ekuago Karl initiated her son, Emmanuel Nutsugah, as a pastor, after the initiation the young man reportedly began experiencing a strange mental illness.
A petition was subsequently brought before the Duamenefa Foundation for investigation. After looking into the issue, the Foundation referred the case back to the traditional rulers for arbitration in line with customary processes.
However, during the arbitration proceedings at the palace, it reportedly appeared that Pastor Ekuago Karl was provoked by a simple question raised by the chairman of the local council of churches, Pastor King Joshua Kwasivi Tamekloe. The question bothered on the past activities of Pastor Carl which was brought before the local council of churches, this infuriated pastor Carl and he refused to cooperate with the traditional authorities, leading to the process being put on hold, saved for the timely intervention of the Duamenefa Foundation.
Describing the development as unfortunate, Mr. Evortepe addressed the public live on air to clarify the situation and provide guidance.
He called on everyone not to allow any individual to mislead them during investigations or when facing trials before traditional rulers. According to him, listening to wrong advice or external interference could make matters worse and prolong the resolution of cases that require patience and cooperation.
Mr. Evortepe stressed that the Duamenefa Foundation remains committed to fairness, transparency and the pursuit of truth in all petitions. He explained that the Foundation’s role is to conduct preliminary investigations and, where necessary, refer cases to the appropriate traditional or legal authorities to ensure that justice is pursued through recognized structures.
He further encouraged the families involved to remain calm and allow the traditional leaders to carry out their mandate without external pressure. He noted that arbitration before traditional rulers is a respected and time-honoured process designed to restore peace, promote reconciliation and ensure harmony within the community.
The Executive President also urged the general public to refrain from speculation and the spread of misinformation regarding the matter. He emphasized that unity, respect for due process and cooperation with lawful and traditional authorities are essential to achieving a fair and peaceful resolution.
