Duamenefa Foundation intends to Install CCTV Cameras at Dzodze-Penyi SHS as Safety Measures

Duamenefa Foundation has intention to enhance student safety at Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School by installing CCTV cameras across the campus. The announcement was made by the foundation’s Executive President and CEO of Fafaa 100.3 Fm, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, on the airwaves of Fafaa 100.3 FM during the Duamenefa Social Intervention Programme on Tuesday, where he emphasized the foundation’s commitment to ensuring that no student is left vulnerable to misconduct or abuse.

According to Mr. Evortepe, the move has become necessary due to the increasing allegations of sexual misconduct in the school. “Having Dzodze-Penyi SHS at heart, the Duamenefa Foundation intend to install CCTV cameras on the campus to provide security and ensure a safe environment for all students,” he said.

He made the announcement while speaking on the recent sexual misconduct allegations in the school. Mr. Evortepe noted that Dzodze-Penyi SHS is a recognized institution in Ghana, known for producing successful individuals both locally and abroad. “Hearing such unfortunate news about the school is disheartening. If permitted by GES and the school authorities, Duamenefa Foundation would wish to implement security measures to prevent these allegations and other unfortunate practices,” he added.

The foundation’s pledge comes in the wake of several reported incidents that have raised concerns about student safety. By installing CCTV cameras, the foundation hopes the stakeholders would be able to monitor activities on campus and deter any misconduct, providing parents, students, and staff with a greater sense of security.

Mr. Evortepe also urged the school authorities to cooperate with the initiative, stressing that the welfare and protection of students should be the top priority. “We are committed to supporting Dzodze-Penyi SHS in any way we can to restore confidence in the institution and safeguard its reputation,” he said.

Community members and parents who spoke during the program have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a positive step toward ensuring accountability and protecting the rights of students. Many hope that such measures will prevent future incidents and reinforce a culture of safety and discipline in the school.

The announcement comes shortly after Mr. Vincent Tovor, an Ewe teacher at the school, was interdicted by the Ghana Education Service (GES) over allegations of sexual misconduct with a final-year student. The recent incident has heightened fears among parents and students about campus safety, making the foundation’s intervention particularly timely.

The foundation also stressed that the CCTV installation will work alongside school authorities to enforce stricter supervision and prevent any further misconduct. Mr. Evortepe said that the cameras will help monitor student areas, staff interactions, and entry points, serving as both a deterrent and a tool for quick action if any issues arise.

Parents, alumni, and local community members have expressed strong support for the initiative, noting that Dzodze-Penyi SHS has produced prominent figures both in Ghana and abroad. They believe that installing CCTV is a practical step toward restoring confidence in the school’s reputation and ensuring that students can focus on learning in a safe environment.
