Allegations of fraudulent practices by some category of clergy men

It would be recalled, in November, 2019, a group of pastors petitioned the Duamenefa Foundation, alleging that an NGO dubbed, United Borderless Mission, led by one Apostle Joel, Bishop Nyamador and other clergy men of high repute defrauded them after collecting various amounts of money under the guise of registration fees and unfulfilled promises.

According to the petitioners, officials of the United Borderless Mission assured them of numerous benefits, including monthly financial support, the construction of church chapels, and educational sponsorships for their children. The officials further claimed that the organization’s source of funding came from huge sums of money allegedly kept in Switzerland, which they said would be released to fulfil their promises once registration was completed. However, none of these promises came to fruition, and the group is reportedly nowhere to be found.

When the Duamenefa Foundation began investigating the matter, the alleged officials of United Borderless Mission reportedly lodged a complaint with the National Media Commission, accusing the Foundation and Fafaa 100.3 FM of tarnishing their image. After investigations, the Media Commission cleared the Duamenefa Foundation and Fafaa FM, while Nyamador and Joel, of United Borderless Mission were picked by investigation officers from the CID headquarters, Accra, for further questioning regarding their conduct.

The affected men of God revealed that United Borderless Mission had told them that its headquarters was based in the Republic of Congo, where the money collected from them had been transferred.

The group allegedly took money from over 12,000 people across Ghana, with the scheme running for more than five years.

One of the victims, identified as Engineer Emil, recounted that he paid money to the organization during a program held in Accra with the promise that he would be reimbursed afterward. However, the promise was never fulfilled. Emil has since traveled to the Republic of Congo in search of the group’s headquarters, but after four days of searching, he reported that his efforts proved futile. He stated that even Google and AI searches could not locate any trace of the organization’s existence in Congo Kinshasa.

The Duamenefa Foundation has since urged all victims of the alleged fraud to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. The Foundation also cautioned the public against falling prey to deceptive groups or individuals who promise unrealistic financial and material benefits.

Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, President of the Duamenefa Foundation, advised the public to exercise patience and discernment, stressing that no one takes material wealth with them after life. He urged Ghanaians to live in peaceful coexistence, to be content with what they have, and extended his condolences to victims who suffered financial losses through such deceptive schemes.

He further disclosed that the Duamenefa Foundation is continuing its investigation into the alleged activities of United Borderless Mission to uncover the truth behind the matter. Mr. Evortepe urged the public to stay calm and allow due process to take its course as the investigation continues.
