The Strong Women Tug of Peace team of Wudoaba in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region has qualified for the finals of the second edition of the Duamenefa Tug of Peace competition.
The defending champions qualified for the finals for the second consecutive time after beating Aflao Virtuous Women 2 – 0 at Klikor Unity School Park.
The team will lock horns with their counterparts, Special Women, also from Wudoaba, for the ultimate prize on Saturday, October 18 at Dzodze Penyi Senior High School Park.
Wudoaba Special Women also qualified to the finals after beating Together Women from Aflao 2 – 0 at the preliminary stage of the competition.
The 2024 champions promised to defend their title at the grand finale of the Duamenefa Regional Tournament while Special Women also vowed to shatter their dreams of winning the title for the second time.
Six teams registered for this year’s competition, but Lotakor Nusedonu Women and Dunenyo Fun Club failed to appear for the competition.
The finals of the Tug of Peace competition will be the highlight competition for women in this year’s grand finale of the Duamenefa Regional Tournament between Greater Accra Region’s Banana Inn FC and Volta Region’s Viepe Tokor Eleven FC on Saturday October 18 at Dzodze Penyi Senior High School Arena.
Duamenefa Tug of Peace is a fun game introduced by the organizers of the Duamenefa Regional Tournament for members of the Duamenefa Foundation, where teams made of only women compete each other by pulling of rope (Tug of War) to determine the strongest.
The Duamenefa Regional Tournament and the Tug of Peace competition is organized by Duamenefa Foundation, a non-governmental organization and sponsored by Tanko Foundation.
