The Weta Traditional Council, led by Torgbuiga Akpo Ashiakpor VI, has issued a press statement condemning the exhumation of Fiator Godfred Kwabla Glago’s mortal remains. The council is calling for swift action to identify and prosecute those responsible for this heinous act.
According to Torgbuiga Akpo Ashiakpor VI, the incident has been formally reported to the police, and two suspects have been arrested. However, the council is outraged that the divisional police commander, Tokor, reportedly received orders to grant bail to the suspects, despite their objections.
The traditional rulers have staged a peaceful demonstration from Weta Junction to the Weta Local Council premises urging the Ghana Police Service to take the matter seriously and maintain peace and security in the area. The incident has drawn condemnation from prominent chiefs, including Torgbui Adela Date, Torgui Awlimetenu III, and Mama Ya Adzagba, Torgbui Tsetseku Soshie, Torgbui Adela Katsawoe, and others.
The council is questioning the motives behind the exhumation and is calling for the law to take its full course. The divisional police commander has advised the chiefs to escalate the matter to the Accra headquarters, citing petitions against him in handling the case.
