Exploratory discussions focus on leadership, entrepreneurship, STEM, vocational training and pathways to economic independence in the Volta Region.

VOLTA REGION, GHANA —A proposed partnership between The Greatness Initiative (TGI) and the Duamenefa Foundation could bring new opportunities in entrepreneurship, leadership, STEM education and vocational development to communities in Ghana’s Volta Region.
The two organizations met virtually on September 13 to explore how TGI’s emerging programs in Ghana could complement Duamenefa Foundation’s longstanding community work and vocational training infrastructure.
At the center of the discussion was a shared focus on connecting education and practical skills with sustainable economic opportunity for vulnerable communities.
TGI’s Ghana initiative
TGI is developing Ghana as its initial program location in Africa, with programming centered on leadership, entrepreneurship, STEM learning, resilience and pathways toward economic independence. Duamenefa representatives described the Foundation’s long-standing work in the Volta Region, including support for people affected by the Trokosi system, educational support, vocational training, community outreach and construction of a vocational school.
A proposed local partnership
Under the proposed collaboration, TGI would provide curriculum and program leadership in entrepreneurship, leadership development, STEM, resilience and mindset. TGI facilitators would work alongside trained Duamenefa staff members and volunteers, while Duamenefa would provide agreed space for mentorship and programming at its current facility and continued access at the vocational facility after it opens.
The partners also proposed livelihood and skills programming for people affected by the Trokosi system or related vulnerabilities, with planning expected to incorporate trauma-informed practices and participant dignity.
$5,000 personal commitment
The discussion included a personal $5,000 commitment from Dr. Willie Moody toward the Duamenefa Foundation’s vocational facility. TGI would coordinate the contribution and related program discussions as a liaison between the partners.
The proposal identifies a potential dedicated program space as the “Fisk–Greatness Initiative Training Room.” The proposed name reflects Dr. Moody’s service as a Fisk University alumni regional leader and a TGI Board member. The proposal makes clear that Fisk University has not made a financial commitment. Any room naming, access, use or recognition would require Duamenefa Foundation’s agreement and formal documentation through a partnership MOU.
Fisk alumni visit proposed
TGI has invited Fisk University and its alumni to consider visiting the Duamenefa vocational facility during a planned Ghana trip from February 10–21, 2027. The proposed Day 7 engagement would include a facility visit, conversations with local leaders and an introduction to the proposed training-room concept.
Any Fisk participation remains subject to institutional approval and final trip coordination. No initial financial commitment is being requested from Fisk University.
Building awareness through radio
The proposed partnership could also use Duamenefa’s media platforms, including Fafaa 100.3 FM, to support community awareness ahead of a potential January 2027 soft launch. Proposed topics include Trokosi awareness and dignity, pathways after liberation, barriers to education and economic independence, youth substance-use prevention and conversations with Ghana-based practitioners and community leaders.
Next steps
The organizations are expected to continue reviewing the partnership concept during fall 2026, including facility needs, program space, funding purpose and the development of an MOU. From October through December, the partners could co-design curriculum, select a pilot audience, prepare facilitators and develop radio content.
A January 2027 awareness effort is proposed, followed by the potential February 2027 Fisk alumni visit. After the visit, the partners would finalize the program schedule and begin delivery as space, staffing and participant readiness allow.
An exploratory conversation
The September 13 meeting was exploratory. Program access, room naming, the MOU and Fisk participation remain subject to review and written agreement by the appropriate parties.
If the proposed collaboration moves forward, it would connect TGI’s leadership and skills-development model with Duamenefa Foundation’s local relationships, facilities, vocational experience and community outreach—creating a potential platform for mentorship, skills development and sustainable livelihoods in the Volta Region.
