The family of the late Queen Mother of Dzodze Fiagbedu, in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region, Mama Egbo Tanu II, has formally petitioned the Duamenefa Foundation to investigate the circumstances surrounding her mysterious death.
In a petition presented to the Foundation, the family described the Queen Mother’s passing as unexpected and deeply distressing. They noted that her untimely death has raised concerns among relatives, who are seeking a transparent and thorough investigation to establish the true cause of her demise.
According to the family, their appeal is aimed at ensuring that all necessary investigative procedures are followed fairly and professionally.
They expressed confidence that an independent inquiry would provide clarity and help address the concerns surrounding the incident.
Copies of the petition were also forwarded to key traditional authorities, including the Regional House of Chiefs, the Dzodze Traditional Council, the Anlo Dukor Traditional Council, and the Overlord of the Anlo State, His Royal Majesty Torgbi Sri III, among other stakeholders.
Responding to the petition, Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, conveyed the Foundation’s condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of its commitment to handling the matter with diligence, fairness and professionalism.
He stated that the Foundation would undertake a comprehensive review to help establish the facts surrounding the Queen Mother’s death while urging the public to remain calm and refrain from speculation or assigning blame before investigations are concluded.
Mr. ketaman described the late Queen Mother as a young, intelligent and accomplished woman who was reportedly pursuing a master’s degree at the time of her passing, adding that her death represents a significant loss to both her family and the wider community.
The Foundation stressed that due process would guide every stage of the investigation and emphasized the need to protect the rights of all parties involved while maintaining peace and stability within the community.
It also appealed to residents to avoid circulating unverified information, particularly on social media, warning that misinformation could fuel unnecessary tension and undermine the investigative process.
Traditional rulers, opinion leaders and other stakeholders have likewise been encouraged to support efforts aimed at ensuring a peaceful, transparent and credible resolution of the matter.
Meanwhile, the family has renewed its appeal for a timely but thorough investigation, expressing confidence that the Foundation will conduct its work impartially and help bring clarity to the circumstances surrounding the Queen Mother’s death.
Legal and human rights advocates have also underscored the importance of adhering to established investigative procedures, noting that transparency and accountability are crucial in cases involving public and traditional office holders.
Community leaders have further called for cooperation among the family, traditional authorities and the Duamenefa Foundation to preserve unity and public confidence as the investigation progresses.
The Duamenefa Foundation has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that the matter is handled with integrity, fairness and full respect for due process.
