Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation, has reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to protecting lives, promoting peace and supporting people who find themselves in situations that threaten their safety.
He made the statement on the airwaves of Fafaa 100.3 FM during the Duamenefa Social Intervention Programme, where he spoke about the Foundation’s intervention in a dispute involving two relatives.
According to Mr. Evortepe, the Foundation does not hate anyone in carrying out its intervention work. He explained that the primary objective of the organization is to save lives, support victims and help find peaceful solutions to disputes within communities.
His comments followed a petition from Fiato Gamorkorpe concerning a dispute between an uncle and his nephew. According to the matter presented to the Foundation, the uncle was allegedly said to have invoked the wrath of the gods against his nephew.
The Duamenefa Foundation took up the matter and conducted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the dispute. Following its investigation, the matter was referred to the traditional rulers for arbitration in an effort to find a resolution acceptable to the parties involved.
After the arbitration, the traditional rulers reportedly directed the uncle to perform the necessary spiritual rites to reverse the alleged invocation of the gods, known as Voodoo Afetorku and Voodoo Kpegidi.
However, Mr. Evortepe said that following the directive from the traditional rulers, the uncle allegedly failed to do what was required of him. The Foundation is concerned that this has allegedly left the victim continuing to experience what has been described as spiritual attacks.
The Executive President said the situation has raised further concerns for the Foundation because, according to him, both parties involved in the dispute are initiates of Voodoo Afetorku.
He explained that Regent Moses Yao Davor is the chief priest of Voodoo Afetorku and also took part in the arbitration of the matter.
Against this background, the Duamenefa Foundation is questioning why the matter has not been resolved despite both parties being initiates of the same deity.
Mr. Evortepe questioned why Regent Moses Yao Davor, as the chief priest, could not call his initiates together and help resolve the dispute to bring an end to the situation.
He said the Foundation is concerned about the continued nature of the dispute and the alleged effect it is having on the victim. He maintained that the organization’s interest is to ensure that matters involving threats to human life are addressed and that victims receive the necessary support.
He further stressed that the Foundation does not seek to interfere with traditional institutions or create conflict with traditional authorities. Rather, its interventions, according to him, are intended to promote dialogue, protect lives and encourage peaceful settlement of disputes.
Mr. Evortepe said the Foundation believes that where traditional mechanisms are available to resolve disputes, such mechanisms should be used effectively to prevent situations from escalating and causing further harm.
He reiterated that the Foundation’s involvement in the Fiato Gamorkorpe matter should not be interpreted as an act of hatred against the uncle, the traditional authorities or any other person connected to the case.
He emphasized that Duamenefa Foundation is doing all this to save lives and not to hate anyone.
Mr. Evortepe called for the matter to be given the necessary attention so that a peaceful resolution can be reached and the concerns raised by the victim and the Foundation can be addressed.
He concluded by reaffirming the Foundation’s commitment to its social intervention work, saying the organization will continue to intervene in matters where it believes human life and peaceful coexistence are at stake.
The Foundation maintains that its central message is simple: protecting lives, supporting victims and promoting peace remain its main priorities.
