Mr. Felix Abusah, a Board Member and Country Director of the Duamenefa Foundation in the US state of Pennsylvania in the United States of America, has called on residents of the Agortime-Ziope District to register as volunteers of the Duamenefa Movement and actively participate in its activities and programmes.
Mr. Abusah made the call on the airwaves of Fafaa 100.3 FM during the Duamenefa Social Intervention Programme, in an interaction with Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation.
Addressing listeners about an upcoming opportunity for NGOs and other development partners to support various communities through the foundation, Mr. Abusah urged residents of the Agortime-Ziope District to take the voluntary membership registration exercise seriously and become part of the Duamenefa Movement.
According to him, as a native of the Agortime-Ziope District, he considers it important for residents of the district to actively participate in the movement and take advantage of opportunities that may arise through the foundation.
He noted that the Duamenefa Foundation has been undertaking various social intervention programmes aimed at supporting people and saving lives in communities. He therefore encouraged residents to identify with the foundation and become registered members so that they could also benefit from opportunities and interventions that may come to the organisation.
Mr. Abusah said the membership drive should be treated as an important opportunity for the people of Agortime-Ziope, particularly as the district could gain greater visibility through the foundation’s future interventions and partnerships.
He explained that when NGOs and other development partners come to support the Duamenefa Foundation, registered volunteers and communities connected to the movement would be better positioned to participate and benefit from such initiatives.
He therefore appealed to the Member of Parliament, the MCE and Assembly Members in the Agortime-Ziope area to take the call seriously and encourage their constituents to register with the movement.
Mr. Abusah also pledged to support the costs associated with the membership-registration drive and other activities connected with the initiative, saying he was prepared to contribute towards making the process successful.
He further appealed to residents not to view the membership drive through a political lens. He acknowledged that initiatives of this nature can sometimes be interpreted by some people as having political motives, but stressed that such a mindset should not be allowed to discourage people from participating.
According to him, the Duamenefa Movement should be seen as a platform for social intervention, community development and support rather than as a political organisation.
He urged residents to put aside political differences and focus on the potential benefits that membership could bring to individuals and communities.
Mr. Abusah further emphasised that the success of the initiative would require a collective effort from traditional authorities, local leaders, youth groups and residents across the various communities in the district.
He therefore urged the traditional leaders in the Agortime-Ziope area to take the call seriously and help organise an active team of young people to lead and coordinate the membership registration exercise within the communities.
He said the involvement of the traditional authorities would help give the initiative the necessary direction and encouragement, particularly in mobilising young people to participate actively in the programme.
Mr. Abusah said the young people selected to lead the exercise should be committed, energetic and ready to engage residents and explain the purpose and benefits of becoming registered members of the Duamenefa Movement.
According to him, the mobilisation should be carried out in an organised manner so that residents in different communities would have the opportunity to participate in the registration process without being left out.
He encouraged the proposed team to approach the exercise with openness and respect, stressing the importance of providing residents with accurate information about the movement and its social intervention activities.
Mr. Abusah also called on residents who have already benefited from programmes of the Duamenefa Foundation to share their experiences with others and encourage more people to identify with the movement.
He further appealed to the traditional authorities, political leaders, Assembly Members, youth leaders and residents of Agortime-Ziope District to work together and give the membership drive the attention it deserves.
Mr. Abusah stressed that his appeal was motivated by his connection to the district and his desire to see its people benefit from initiatives that promote social development and improve the wellbeing of residents.
He assured the organisers and the people of Agortime-Ziope that he remained ready to support the mobilisation exercise whenever his assistance was needed.
He called on residents to take advantage of the opportunity to register as members of the Duamenefa Movement and become active participants in its activities, saying collective participation would help create a stronger platform for future social interventions and community development.
