A man who allegedly shot his nephew to death at Dzodze-Fiagbedu in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region has been arrested after allegedly being on the run for three years.
The suspect, identified as Mr. Atsu Adorvlo, was arrested on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Aflao in the Ketu South Municipality following information provided to the National Security.
The victim, identified as Etornam Adorvlo, was an auto electrician and died under circumstances that left his family devastated.
The incident, which occurred in 2023, had remained a source of pain for the victim’s family, particularly his father, Mr. Abraham Adorvlo, who said he had spent years trying to establish the whereabouts of the suspect.
Narrating the incident, Mr. Abraham Adorvlo lamented deeply over the death of his son and expressed profound regret over the loss. He said the circumstances surrounding Etornam’s death had caused the family immense pain, especially as his son died unexpectedly and left behind children.
He said the children have had to cope with the loss of their father while the family continued to search for answers and hoped that the person allegedly responsible would eventually be found.
According to Mr. Abraham Adorvlo, he pursued several avenues in his efforts to locate Mr. Atsu Adorvlo. He said he went through various channels and sought information from different sources, determined not to abandon the search.
He disclosed that his efforts took him as far as the National Police Headquarters, where he sought assistance and continued to provide information that could help authorities trace the suspect.
Mr. Abraham Adorvlo said that despite the passage of three years, he remained committed to finding the suspect because he wanted the family to have the opportunity to seek justice for the death of his son.
He later received information that Mr. Atsu Adorvlo had allegedly married and was staying at Aflao in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region.
After receiving the information, he said he immediately informed the National Security at Aflao and shared the information available to him.
The National Security subsequently acted on the information, leading to the arrest of Mr. Atsu Adorvlo on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
The arrest has brought a major development to the case, which had remained unresolved since the alleged shooting in 2023.
Mr. Abraham Adorvlo expressed relief over the arrest but said the development could not erase the pain caused by the death of his son.
He lamented seriously over the incident and said the family continues to feel the impact of Etornam’s death, particularly because he left behind children who depended on him.
He expressed hope that the relevant authorities would conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the matter is dealt with according to the law.
Meanwhile, Duamenefa Foundation Executive President, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, has expressed deep condolences to Mr. Abraham Adorvlo and the entire family following the death of Etornam.
Mr. Evortepe said he sympathizes with the family over the painful loss and wished Mr. Abraham Adorvlo strength and well-being as he continues to deal with the circumstances surrounding his son’s death.
He also explained that although the incident occurred in 2023, the Duamenefa Foundation followed up on the story and continued to monitor developments surrounding the case.
According to Mr. Evortepe, the Foundation decided to publish the story following the arrest of the suspect in order to inform the public about the latest development in the case.
He said the follow-up was also intended to highlight the efforts made by the victim’s family over the years to locate the suspect and seek justice.
Mr. Evortepe extended his sympathies to the children of the deceased and other family members who have been affected by the tragedy.
He urged the family to remain strong and allow the appropriate authorities to carry out their duties as the case progresses.
The suspect is expected to be processed in accordance with the law as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the alleged shooting and the death of Etornam Adorvlo.
