The Duamenefa Foundation is currently investigating the mysterious death of Mad. Christiana Mary Dzivenu from Kedzi, in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region with five children.

The mortal remains of Madam Dzivenu is lying in the mortuary for the past eight months due to hindering of inquest by her children’s father, who allegedly claimed his gods were responsible for the incessant death of the family.

The late madam Dzivenu’s family has petitioned the Foundation to intervene, to make way to reclaim her body and perform proper funeral rites. The Foundation is working to unravel the mysteries surrounding her death and ensure her mortal remains is accorded a befitting burial

According to the family, Mad. Christiana Mary had been staying with Mr. Francis Gavor, who had not paid her bride price, although the couple had children together. One day, while preparing food in the kitchen, she suddenly fell and was rushed to the hospital, where she passed away with five months pregnancy. The family believes her death may be linked to spiritual invocation of the wrath of the gods, because Mr. Gavor allegedly claimed she had stolen his rams and he invoked the gods.

During the Duamenefa social intervention programme hosted by Abass Seidu, the Foundation called on people who were close to the deceased to share their observations. Tragically, one of the eyewitnesses,Mr. Agbokpa Gavor who’s was scheduled to speak to the issue also died mysteriously.

Another eyewitness, Mr. Ebor, provided details of the relationship between the deceased and Mr. Gavor. According to him, the couple lived close to him, and he regularly mediated between them. Mr. Ebor revealed that Mr. Gavor told him the missing rams were jointly purchased by him and the deceased, but his brother, the late Agbokpa allegedly stole some of the rams and even used juju to attack his daughter.

Mr. Ebor also explained that Mr. Gavor often neglected his household responsibilities, leaving the pregnant woman to provide food and care for the children while he refused to support her financially. He further stated that the woman regularly cared for the rams when Mr. Gavor was absent. On one occasion, she sold one ram to support herself and cover hospital expenses because Mr. Gavor refused to provide financial assistance. Despite repeated warnings to Mr. Gavor to correct his behavior, he refused, leaving the woman to struggle alone.

Mr. Ebor added that the deceased often approached him with complaints about Mr. Gavor’s neglect. He explained that whenever she requested money for healthcare during her pregnancy, Mr. Gavor refused to provide it. Despite all these challenges, she continued to care for the household and the rams responsibly.

The Duamenefa Foundation has attempted to reach Mr. Francis Gavor to respond to the reports delivered by the eyewitnesses. However, Mr. Gavor indicated that due to his current location, he could not speak at the time and requested another opportunity to give his account.

The family has appealed to the Duamenefa Foundation to ensure a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mad. Christiana Mary’s death and facilitate the release of her body so that proper funeral rites can be performed. The Foundation is continuing its investigations to get to the bottom of the matter and verify the account delivered by Mr. Ebor. The public has been urged to stay tuned to Fafaa 100.3 FM for updates as the investigation continues.
