Christian- Led Duamenefa Foundation Disavows Traditional Divination – Executive President

The Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation has clarified that the Foundation does not perform divination or employ diviners, following concerns raised by Mr. Korsi Gavor of Torgbeve in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region. Mr. Gavor was accused of using diabolical means to attack Madam Dzahe, his grandmother, also of Torgbeve, an allegation Korsi denied, and insist Duamenefa should conduct verification divination to substantiate the claims

The Executive President explained that the Foundation’s role is limited to investigating matters and referring them to traditional rulers for arbitration. The Foundation is a Christian faith based organization that does not conduct divination, instead, the Foundation representatives serves as news agents and eye witnesses during traditional arbitrations.

The Executive President further explained that the Foundation does not perform divination and, therefore, could not conduct another divination to verify the outcome.

He stated categorically that the Duamenefa Foundation played no role whatsoever in the divination conducted during the arbitration, emphasising that the decision to undertake the divination was made solely by the traditional authorities handling the matter.

According to him, the Foundation neither initiated nor conducted the divination, as such an exercise falls outside its mandate. He stressed that the Foundation’s presence at the arbitration should not be misconstrued as participation in or endorsement of the divination process.

The Executive President further explained that the Foundation’s role in such matters begins with investigating the case and subsequently handing it over to the appropriate traditional rulers for arbitration.

The Executive President maintained that the demand for the Foundation to conduct another divination to verify the outcome of the case reflected a misunderstanding of the organisation’s responsibilities. He reiterated that the Foundation could not be expected to perform a function outside its mandate.

He emphasised that the Foundation’s involvement should not be interpreted as participation in divination simply because its representatives are present during arbitration proceedings involving traditional rulers.

According to him, the Foundation’s responsibility is to investigate cases, refer them to the appropriate traditional authorities and witness the arbitration process, while the traditional rulers take charge of the proceedings and make decisions regarding the conduct of the arbitration.

The Executive President therefore urged the public to understand the distinction between the investigative role of the Duamenefa Foundation and the arbitration responsibilities of traditional rulers.

He reiterated that the Foundation does not perform divination, does not employ diviners and played no role in the divination exercise in question, stressing that the decision to conduct the exercise rested solely with the traditional authorities.

He concluded that the Foundation’s presence at the arbitration was strictly in the capacity of news agents mandated to cover proceedings and should not be taken to mean that it participated in or was responsible for the divination outcome.
