Once again, another annual grand finale of the 2022 edition of the Duamenefa Regional Tournament would be played at the Dzodze – Penyi Senior High School Park on the 27th day of August 2022. The day will witness the 4th edition of the peace-building competition of 61 football clubs from various districts and communities across the Volta Region.
The tournament which began on the 7th day of May, 2022, will celebrate the winner of the “Duamenefa” Trophy on the 27th day of August, 2022.
The objective of the tournament is to use the game of football to promote peaceful coexistence of people in the Volta Region and to unearth the hidden talents embedded in the youth and to promote same to the nation Ghana and the world at large
The headline sponsor of this year’s edition is Hon. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah Atokple, a man who has identified himself with the objectives of the Duamenefa Regional Tournament.

The Duamenefa Foundation of Fafaa Fm would use the occasion to commission its community leaders within 120 communities of the Volta Region (still counting) with the mandate to promote peaceful coexistence.
The Duamenefa Foundation of Fafaa Fm is a non-profit organization with over 27,900 volunteers scattered across the various communities of the Volta Region.

I was attracted to the media landscape when Jubilee Radio 106.9 FM was established in Keta in 2004 as the first private Radio Station of the Volta Region. I was one of the pioneer guest artistes and panelists. My knowledge of the media as a medium for information, transformation and later intervention deepened and my awareness of its influence on the thoughts, actions and behavior of the masses broadened.
The Anlo Kingdom, at the time, was besieged with myriads of social, religious and repressive issues. The religious sphere was polluted and polarized between and among the Christians and the non-Christians. It was to address this volatile situation that Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe, who was Deputy Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Jubilee Radio 106.9 FM, put up a proposal titled DUAMENEFA for promoting peace and reconciliation in the various communities in the Anlo Kingdom for consideration and approval by Management.

The Vision, Mission and Mandate of Duamenefa manifested more clearly when Fafaa Radio 100.3 FM was established in Dzodze by Evangelist Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe in 2013. The mandate of promoting peaceful coexistence between and among the various faith-based organisations became the target of the Foundation. For the first time in our religious life as a State, people began to identify the wrongs and ills among the various faith-based organisations and their leaders. Corruption in the leaders of some Christian Churches were exposed and so also was the corruption and evil deeds of some Traditional faith-based organisations. For the first time in our land, evil and sin have no colouration; sin is sin and evil is evil whether they occur among the Christians or Traditional faith-based organisations.
This new development brought relief to the majority of the people. Evil doers, especially those who cast spells on their neighbours are exposed and hauled to traditional courts for arbitration for removal of the spells. Duamenefa also champions the abrogation of outmoded customs and traditions and refinement of some that need to be refined.
Another area of significant achievement deals with interventions of support for single parents to make life and living bearable for them.
Another area of intervention is the engagement of the youth in healthy rivalry through sports. The Duamenefa Regional Tournament brought together the youth in football gala competition and other traditional games. This promotes the spirit of tolerance and cooperation among the youth.
Young girls kept in captivity for atrocities committed or pledges made to the deities many years ago by their ancestors are offered job and skills training upon their completion of their servitude by the Duamenefa Foundation N.G.O.
These and other interventions made Duamenefa a household name in all the communities in the State. The name DUAMENEFA means let there be peace in the community and this has been consistently demonstrated both in action and in deed.
I feel proud and privileged to be associated with the Vision, Mission and Mandate of this Christ-centered and Christian-based organisation.
