My goal is to draw more European Investment to Ghana – EU Ambassador

The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Rune Skinnebach, has pledged to make Ghana a more attractive destination for European investment during his tenure.

He said his priority would be to deepen EU-Ghana economic relations by supporting infrastructure development, advancing sustainability goals, and contributing to the country’s broader economic stability.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Mr. Skinnebach explained that the EU’s partnership with Ghana had shifted beyond the promotion of values and principles to also advancing shared economic interests.

“Europe used to be a corporate partner promoting its values and principles. Now, this has extended to interests also. Fortunately, many of these interests coincide with Ghana’s interests as well. What I want to do in my four years here is to make Ghana more attractive for investment for Europeans,” he said.

He added that the EU is working to attract financing from private investors, development institutions, and international financial bodies into Ghana.

“From direct investments for the private sector, development institutions and also for international financial institutions to bring their money to Ghana and to help develop the infrastructure and to help develop sustainability and to help push the economic stabilisation,” Mr. Skinnebach noted.
