Airport Company Limited apologises to passengers for power outage on Mar 1

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has issued an apology to passengers affected by power outages experienced at the Kotoka International Airport on Friday, March 1, 2024.
Passengers travelling to and from various destinations were left stranded on Friday [March 1] night due to power failures at the airport.

In a Facebook post dated March 2, GACL confirmed the incident and explained, stating that their backup generators, which typically start within 3–5 seconds of a power cut, took approximately 1 minute and 30 seconds to activate.

Management at GACL expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the outage and assured passengers of their commitment to delivering a seamless travel experience.

They also emphasised that steps are being taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

“Management of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) wishes to confirm that Kotoka International Airport experienced intermittent power outages on Friday, 1st March 2024.”

“Our Gentsets, which normally kick-starts within 3–5 seconds of an outage, took about 1 minute 30 seconds to kick in.”

“Management of GACL apologises for the inconvenience caused.”
