Over 1,100 (One Thousand One Hundred) Certified Volunteers of the Duamenefa Foundation benefits from free skills acquisition program this year.
The three weeks program was organised by the Duamenefa Foundation, under the leadership of Mr. Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe, the Executive President and CEO of Fafaa 100.3 Fm, Dzodze, in collaboration with Treasures of His Eyes, a UK based NGO led by Pastor Adefunke Adeoye, also known as Mamaga Nutefeworla I,
A total of six communities, comprising, Keta Municipality, Klikor and Aflao in Ketu South Municipality Ave – Afiadenyigba and Dzodze in the Ketu North Municipality and Anloga District of the Volta Region of Ghana have benefited from the program this year.
The training covered various practical and income-generating skills, including batik, tie and dye, farming, soap making, pastries and other related fields of training . Participants were taken through the techniques, processes and procedures involved, with emphasis on practical learning.
The programme was aimed at equipping participants with employable skills that could enable them to become self-reliant, establish small businesses, and create sources of income for themselves and their families.
The initiative forms part of an annual corporate social responsibility of the two Non Profit Organizations in Ghana and the UK, since 2017. So far over 3000 members out of a total of 48,764 certified volunteers of the Duamenefa Foundation benefited from the program. Some beneficiaries have set up an income generating businesses to compliments the efforts of the two Non Profit Organizations, to promote skills development, self-reliance, and economic empowerment among members and people within the various communities.
The training also provided participants with an opportunity to interact, share experiences, and develop their talents. Beneficiaries said the practical sessions had increased their knowledge and confidence to apply the skills acquired.
In an interaction with the participants, Pastor Cornelius Miheso, the Duamenefa Reporter, noted the excitement among the beneficiaries. The participants expressed their joy and appreciation to the organisers for providing them with the opportunity to acquire practical skills free of charge.
They said the programme had given them valuable knowledge that could help them improve their livelihoods and support their families. They also expressed willingness to put the skills acquired into practice.
Pastor Adefunke Adeoye,(Mamaga Nutefeworla I) the UK based facilitator encouraged the past and present beneficiaries to remain committed and continue practising the skills they had acquired. She urged them to explore ways of turning their new knowledge into sustainable sources of income. A visit to some past parcipants who set up income generating ventures out of the skills acquired has convinced the organizers their efforts were yielding the desire results.
The past and present participants commended the Duamenefa Foundation,Ghana and Treasures of His Eyes, UK, for the initiative and appealed for similar programmes to be organised regularly to enable more people to benefit.
The programme ended with the past and present beneficiaries expressing gratitude to the organisers, facilitators, and all those who contributed to making the training possible. They said the opportunity had equipped them with practical skills. They were encouraged to work towards greater self-reliance.
