The traditional rulers are set to hold a second public arbitration in the ongoing car dispute between Mr. Fauster Ahiagba and his nephew, Mr. Dotsey Robert, following Mr. Ahiagba’s failure to appear at the first arbitration.
The development follows a petition received by the Duamenefa Foundation from the Dotsey family, seeking investigation and intervention in the dispute and related allegations.
According to the petition, Mr. Fauster Ahiagba allegedly bought a car for his nephew, Mr. Dotsey Robert, under an arrangement for the vehicle to be used on work and pay basis
However, according to the family, the agreement later broke down and the relationship between the two parties reportedly turned sour, resulting in a dispute over the vehicle.
The petition further alleged that Mr. Fauster Ahiagba invoked the wrath of the gods against his nephew following the disagreement. The family also alleged that the nephew, Mr. Robert Dotsey’s younger son subsequently suffered an attack, prompting them to petition the Duamenefa Foundation to investigate the matter and intervene.
The allegations contained in the petition remained as claims made by the petitioners family and have not been independently established.
Following receipt of the petition, the Duamenefa Foundation engaged the various parties involved in an effort to understand the circumstances surrounding the dispute and find an appropriate avenue for its resolution.
The Foundation subsequently referred the matter to the traditional authorities for arbitration, where the parties would have the opportunity to present their respective sides.
The first arbitration was held under the leadership of Torgbi Ahoe II. However, Mr. Fauster Ahiagba allegedly failed to appear before the traditional authorities.
In a separate interaction with the Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, Mr. Ahiagba was contacted to confirm whether he would attend the second arbitration.
Responding to the inquiry, Mr. Ahiagba explained that his failure to attend the first arbitration was not deliberate. He stated that due to circumstances beyond his control he was unable to appear and stressed that he did not intentionally absent himself from the proceedings.
He, however, assured Mr. Evortepe that he would attend the second arbitration and appear before the traditional authorities to address the issues surrounding the dispute.
The second arbitration has been organised under the leadership of Torgbi Zavordiku IV at Avenorme and is scheduled to take place at Xavi in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region, at the palace of Torgbi Annie, on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
The arbitration is expected to bring together the parties involved, family representatives and other relevant stakeholders to hear the claims and counterclaims surrounding the disputed vehicle and the allegations that emerged following the disagreement.
The Duamenefa Foundation is expected to facilitate the process as part of its social intervention efforts and ensure that the concerns raised by the petitioning family are properly presented before the traditional authorities.
Copies of the invitation for the arbitration have also been sent to the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Akatsi South, and the Centre for National Culture for their attention and participation in the process.
The Duamenefa Foundation has also been notified as part of its role in facilitating the matter, while Fafaa 100.3 FM is expected to provide media coverage of the second public arbitration.
The upcoming arbitration is expected to give the parties an opportunity to clarify the circumstances surrounding the original agreement for the vehicle, the events that led to the breakdown of the relationship and the concerns raised by the Dotsey family in their petition.
The traditional authorities are expected to hear both sides and allow the parties to respond to the allegations made against them before any steps are taken towards reconciliation or settlement.
The referral of the matter to the traditional authorities is intended to create an avenue for dialogue, clarification and reconciliation while allowing all parties to present their respective positions.
The Duamenefa Foundation has encouraged all parties involved to avail themselves of the opportunity to appear before the traditional authorities and present their concerns respectfully, with the hope that the disagreement can be resolved without further tension.
The Foundation maintains that its intervention is aimed at promoting peace, protecting families from prolonged conflict and supporting traditional authorities in resolving disputes through dialogue, mediation and reconciliation.
The second sitting will therefore be closely watched by the families and stakeholders involved, particularly following Mr. Ahiagba’s assurance that he will attend this time.
The ultimate objective of the intervention is to prevent the dispute from escalating further and to help restore peace and understanding between the parties and their respective families.
