The Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, has reiterated that every citizen is equal before the law, stressing that no individual is above the Constitution of Ghana.
Mr. Evortepe made the remarks during a public education session on Fafaa 100.3 FM as part of the Duamenefa Social Intervention Programme, where he emphasized the importance of respecting the country’s constitutional framework and the rule of law.
According to him, the Constitution of Ghana applies equally to all citizens, regardless of their social status, political affiliation, wealth, or position in society. He noted that the Constitution remains the supreme law of the land and must be obeyed by everyone without exception.
He explained that anyone who acts contrary to the Constitution or violates the laws of Ghana is liable to face the appropriate legal consequences, irrespective of their influence or public office.
“The Constitution of Ghana does not exempt anyone. Everyone is subject to the law,” Mr. Evortepe stated, emphasizing that no person should believe that power, wealth, or status places them above the law.
He further urged citizens to make respect for the Constitution a personal responsibility, noting that every unlawful act carries legal consequences. According to him, all individuals eventually become accountable under the laws of Ghana whenever they engage in acts that violate the Constitution.
Mr. Evortepe also reminded the public that ignorance of the law is not a defence. He encouraged Ghanaians to educate themselves on their constitutional rights and responsibilities to enable them to make informed decisions and avoid actions that conflict with the law.
He noted that the Constitution was established to protect the rights, freedoms, and responsibilities of every Ghanaian while promoting justice, fairness, and equality. He stressed that respect for the rule of law by individuals, institutions, and public office holders is essential to maintaining public confidence in the country’s democratic system.
The Executive President further called on parents, teachers, religious leaders, and community leaders to play active roles in educating young people on the importance of constitutional values and responsible citizenship.
Mr. Evortepe encouraged the public to ensure that their actions remain consistent with the laws of Ghana, emphasizing that anyone who violates the law must be prepared to face the consequences, regardless of their position or influence.
He reaffirmed the Duamenefa Foundation’s commitment to promoting constitutional governance and stated that the Foundation would not support any conduct that undermines the laws of Ghana. According to him, the organization will continue to champion justice, peace, accountability, and respect for the rule of law through its programmes and interventions.
He concluded by urging Ghanaians to uphold the principles of justice, accountability, and lawful conduct, stating that national peace, unity, and sustainable development can only be achieved when citizens respect and obey the Constitution.
