Visually Impaired Anloga Native Appeals to Duamenefa Foundation For Investigation And Intervention

A visually impaired native of Avume-Anloga in the Anlo District of the Volta Region, Mr. Fiati Felix Otusey, has petitioned the Duamenefa Foundation to intervene in a protracted family land dispute which he believes has significantly affected his wellbeing and family relationships.

In a petition addressed to the Executive President of the Foundation, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, Mr. Otusey alleged that a family member, Mr. Akor Lionpi Kwashie, was involved in the sale of family land during a period when discussions were ongoing regarding the renovation of a family property. He contends that disagreements surrounding the transaction later generated tensions among family members.

According to the petitioner, the dispute resulted in several attempts at resolution involving family meetings, traditional mediation processes, and police intervention. However, he claims that despite agreements reached during earlier reconciliation efforts, the matter remains unresolved.

Mr. Otusey further stated that he later developed a serious medical condition that initially affected one eye before progressing to total blindness. He indicated that he sought treatment at several health facilities, including Keta Municipal Hospital, Sogakope Hospital, 37 Military Hospital, and Tema Eye Clinic. According to him, medical consultations did not provide a definitive explanation for his condition.

The petitioner also said he pursued spiritual and traditional consultations in an effort to understand the circumstances surrounding his illness. He claimed that some individuals he consulted suggested possible spiritual factors, although these assertions remain unverified and are based on personal beliefs.

Mr. Otusey further alleged that efforts to engage the accused family member in additional discussions have yielded little progress, leaving the dispute unresolved and contributing to continued tension within the family.

He noted that the prolonged disagreement has created emotional distress and strained relationships among relatives, making reconciliation increasingly challenging without external assistance. He therefore appealed to the Duamenefa Foundation to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to investigate, intervene, facilitate mediation and help restore peace among the parties involved.

According to the petitioner, his primary objective is not confrontation but the pursuit of truth, reconciliation, and harmony within the family. He expressed hope that intervention by the Foundation would help prevent further divisions and pave the way for a lasting resolution.

Responding to the petition, the Duamenefa Foundation assured the public that the matter is under consideration. The Foundation stated that it remains committed to promoting peace, protecting lives, and supporting conflict resolution efforts within communities.

The Foundation further indicated that appropriate steps would be taken in accordance with its social intervention and mediation processes to carefully examine the issues raised and engage relevant stakeholders where necessary.

It also urged all parties connected to the dispute to remain calm and cooperate with any investigative or mediation processes that may be initiated in the interest of peace and reconciliation.

The Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to fostering harmony and social justice, expressing confidence that a fair and peaceful approach would guide any intervention undertaken in the matter.
