The Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe, has stated that the Foundation’s interventions in various community disputes and social issues have contributed significantly to protecting lives and promoting peace in affected communities.
Speaking on the Duamenefa Social Intervention Programme on Fafaa 100.3 FM, Mr. Evortepe noted that many petitions brought before the Foundation involve vulnerable individuals facing difficult circumstances, community tensions, and unresolved disputes that require urgent investigation and intervention
His remarks followed discussions surrounding a petition submitted to the Foundation concerning a bedridden man, Mr. Tsatey Doku, of Vui, in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, whose condition was reportedly linked to a longstanding dispute between him and one Mr. Seth Lumor, also resident in the same community. The dispute revolved around an amount of GH¢100. According to the petition, allegations were made regarding the possible involvement of spiritual practices, although such claims remain matters of belief and have not been independently verified.
Mr. Evortepe explained that disputes of this nature often generate fear, uncertainty, and tension within communities, particularly when there is limited information available to those affected. He emphasized that the Foundation’s role is collaborate with relevant statutory organizations such as the NCCE, Center For National Culture, The Ghana Police, The Traditional Authorities, to facilitate dialogue, mediation, and peaceful engagement among parties involved in order to prevent the conflicts from escalating.
According to him, many petitions received by the Foundation involve family disagreements, community disputes, and situations that have led to strained relationships and social divisions. He stated that through mediation and collaboration with traditional authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders mentioned above, the Foundation seeks to promote reconciliation and lasting peace.
He further noted that the Foundation has intensified its social intervention programmes, focusing on peace education, conflict resolution, and public sensitization. These initiatives, he said, are intended to help communities address disputes constructively and reduce the likelihood of misunderstandings developing into larger social challenges.
Mr. Evortepe also observed that some petitions initially perceived as mysterious or spiritually related are later found to involve underlying social, personal, or family conflicts. He explained that careful engagement and fact-finding often help clarify issues and reduce fear, stigma, and misinformation within communities.
Referring to the petition under discussion, he stated that the intervention of the Duamenefa Foundation, together with the involvement of traditional authorities, facilitated reconciliation efforts and dispute resolution processes aimed at restoring peace among the parties concerned.
The Executive President reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence, social harmony, and respect for lawful processes in addressing community concerns. He encouraged individuals engaged in traditional spiritual practices to comply with applicable regulations and community requirements to ensure accountability and responsible conduct.
Mr. Evortepe further appealed to members of the public to report concerns through appropriate channels, assuring that petitions received by the Foundation are handled with fairness, confidentiality, and respect for all parties involved.
He reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to safeguarding lives, supporting vulnerable individuals, and strengthening community peace through dialogue, mediation, and social intervention initiatives across the country.
