The New Patriotic Party’s sole member of Parliament for Hohoe constituency in the Volta region, Hon. John Peter Amewu who doubles as the minister for Railways Development attributes his defeat in the 2024 general elections to the economic hardship of the country.
Mr. Amewu, who won the Hohoe seat in the 2020 as the only Member of Parliament on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party in the Volta region an interview with media said, he was defeated in the just ended general election due to the hardship in the country.
Mr. Amewu polled just 12,700 votes out of the total 40,352 valid votes whilst National Democratic Congress’s Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo was able to polled 27,597 votes making him the new member of Parliament elect for the constituency
