The Duamenefa Foundation has announced the rescheduling of the 2026 Duamenefa Grand Durbar, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, 28th November 2026. The much-anticipated event has now been moved to Saturday, 5th December 2026, and will take place at Klikor Unity Park in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region.
The official announcement was made by the Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation, Mr. Ketaman Emmanuel Evortepe.
According to Mr. Evortepe, the Grand Durbar was initially planned for 28th November 2026 at Klikor Unity Park. However, after careful consideration of a number of concerns and factors, the Foundation decided to postpone the event to 5th December 2026.
He explained that one of the major considerations behind the decision was the unavailability of the Paramount Chief of the Klikor Traditional Area, Torgbiga Dr. Addo IX, who is expected to host the event on behalf of the traditional area.
Mr. Evortepe noted that the Foundation attaches great importance to the presence and role of the Paramount Chief as host of the Grand Durbar. He therefore said that, in honour and recognition of the Paramount Chief, the Foundation considered it appropriate to postpone the event to a date on which he would be available to host the occasion.
He further explained that the Foundation considered several other concerns in reaching the decision, with the availability of the traditional host being one of the key factors taken into account.
He emphasised that the change in date does not amount to a cancellation of the event, but rather a necessary adjustment made to ensure that the Grand Durbar is held under the appropriate circumstances and with the full participation of the traditional host.
The Executive President said the additional time would also enable the Foundation and the organising team to strengthen preparations, coordinate effectively with stakeholders, and ensure that the various activities planned for the Grand Durbar are properly organised.
He said the Foundation is committed to working closely with the traditional authorities, community leaders, stakeholders, partners, and other relevant groups to ensure that the event achieves its intended purpose.
Mr. Evortepe expressed his sincere apologies to all traditional authorities, invited guests, stakeholders, partners, members, supporters, and members of the public who may experience any inconvenience as a result of the change in date.
He appealed for their understanding and continued support, assuring them that the Foundation remains committed to organising a successful and memorable Grand Durbar.
He also urged all individuals and organisations that had already made arrangements to attend the event to take note of the new date and make the necessary adjustments to their schedules.
Mr. Evortepe expressed appreciation to the Paramount Chief of the Klikor Traditional Area, Torgbiga Dr. Addo IX, the traditional authorities, community leaders, partners, invited guests, members, and supporters of the Duamenefa Foundation for their understanding and continued commitment to the event.
The 2026 Duamenefa Grand Durbar will therefore take place on Saturday, 5th December 2026, at Klikor Unity Park in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region.
The event is expected to bring together traditional leaders, dignitaries, community members, stakeholders, partners, and supporters of the Duamenefa Foundation for a celebration centred on unity, culture, community development, and social intervention.
The Grand Durbar will also provide an opportunity for the Foundation to engage with the community and stakeholders while promoting its vision and objectives through meaningful social and community-focused activities.
The Duamenefa Foundation has therefore called on the general public and all stakeholders to take note of the new date and continue to support the preparations towards a successful and memorable 2026 Duamenefa Grand Durbar.
