DUAMENEFA FOUNDATION LAUNCHES 2026 VOLTA FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT TO PROMOTE PEACE AND UNITY

The Duamenefa Regional Tournament, an annual sporting event, birthed in the year 2017, in Dzodze, the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region, has officially unveiled its 2026 edition of the Tournament, a major grassroots sporting initiative aimed at promoting peace, unity, and youth development across the Volta Region.

Organized under the theme “One Region, One Goal” and the slogan “Promoting Peaceful Coexistence,” the tournament will bring together football clubs from the Klikor, Wudoaba, and Afife zones in the preliminary stage of matches scheduled between June and July 2026.

The tournament is proudly sponsored by His Excellency Dr. Gabriel Kwamigah Tanko Atokple (Torgbi Nyaxordeakorla I), the Council of State Member representing the Volta Region.

According to the organizers, the competition is intended not only to foster community integration but also to create opportunities for young people to develop their talents through sports. The initiative is expected to help redirect the energies of the youth away from social challenges such as drug abuse and unemployment while encouraging discipline and teamwork.

Football stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a significant platform for identifying and nurturing promising football talents who may progress to regional and national levels.

The Klikor Zone Tournament will open the competition on June 27 and 28, followed by the Wudoaba Zone Tournament on July 4 and 5. The final phase, the Afife Zone Tournament, will take place on July 11, 2026.

Organizers have called on players, supporters, and community members to uphold discipline, sportsmanship, and respect for match officials to ensure a peaceful and successful tournament.

Beyond football, the tournament is expected to stimulate economic activity in host communities, creating opportunities for local traders, food vendors, and transport operators during match days.

With excitement building ahead of kick-off, the Duamenefa Foundation remains confident that the competition will strengthen community bonds while contributing to youth empowerment and football development throughout the Volta Region.
