Traditional Ruler Honoured by Duamenefa Foundation for Staying Out of Chieftaincy Disputes

Dzodze, Volta Region – October 19th, 2025

Torgbiga Adrakpanya VI, the Paramount Chief of the Afife Traditional Area, has received official recognition from the Duamenefa Foundation for his exemplary role in maintaining peace and unity within his traditional jurisdiction.

The recognition was presented during the Duamenefa Grand Durbar, held yesterday, October 18, 2025, at the Dzodze Penyi SHS Park. The event brought together traditional leaders, community members, and stakeholders from across the Volta Region and beyond to celebrate peace, unity, and cultural heritage.

The Duamenefa Grand Durbar was attended by a wide range of dignitaries, including traditional rulers, political leaders, church leaders, traditional fetish priests, chief imams, and representatives from various institutions. Their presence underscored the significance of the event and the collective commitment to promoting peace and development in the region.

The announcement was made by Mr. Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe, Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation, during the Sunday evening edition of the Duamenefa Programme, which was dedicated to thanksgiving for traditional rulers and all those who participated in the Grand Durbar.

“Our findings confirmed that under the reign of Torgbiga Adrakpanya VI, there has been no conflict over the paramount chieftaincy title. His leadership has fostered peace and harmony, and it is only right that we honour him for that,” Mr. Evortepe stated.

He also urged all traditional rulers to emulate the example of Torgbiga Adrakpanya VI by maintaining peace in their respective areas so that lasting development and unity can prevail in their communities. He emphasized that this is the main objective of the Duamenefa Foundation — to promote peace and prevent conflict within traditional and community settings.

The Duamenefa Foundation, known for promoting peace and conflict resolution through community engagement and investigative outreach, emphasized the importance of conflict-free leadership in traditional governance.

Torgbiga Adrakpanya VI’s recognition underscores the vital role traditional rulers play in fostering peace and development in their communities.
